1 |
To the messenger of the church at Sardis write:
Thus says the one who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars: I am familiar with your rites that you have a reputation that you are lively, but you are dead. |
2 |
Be alert and strengthen the sparks which are about to die for I have not found your rites satisfactory in the sight of my God.
3 |
Remember therefore the tradition you have heard and observe it and change. If, however, you are not watchful, I will pounce upon you like a thief. You do not know when I will come upon you.
4 |
Still, you have a few persons in Sardis who have not soiled their garments. They will walk with me in white for they are worthy.
5 |
The victor will thus be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot his name out of the Book of Life but will acknowledge him before my father and before his angels.
6 |
Let him who understands heed what the Spirit says to the churches.
7 |
To the messenger of the church in Philadelphia write:
8 |
I am acquainted with your rites. See, I have set before you an open door, and none is able to shut it because you have little strength and have retained my teaching and have not denied me
9 |
Watch, I will command that those of the Synagogue of Satan who claim to be Jews and are not but lie -- I will make them come and prostrate themselves at your feet so they will know that I loved you.
10 |
Because you kept my command to endure, I also will keep you from the time of trial which is about to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
11 |
I come suddenly. Preserve what you have that none may take your crown from you
12 |
I will make the victor a pillar in the temple of my God that he may never depart again. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the New Jerusalem which decends from my God out of heaven, and my new name.
13 |
Let him who understands heed what the Spirit says to the churches.

14 |
To the messenger of the church in Laodicea write:
Thus says the Amen, the steadfast and true martyr, the beginning of Gods creation. |
15 |
I am acquainted with your rites, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot.
16 |
Therefore, because you are tepid and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
17 |
Although you say, "I am rich and wealthy and need nothing," but do not know that you are miserable, pitiable, beggarly, blind and in tatters.
18 |
I counsel you to by from me refined gold that you may be righ and white garments that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be evident and ointment to salve your eyes that you may see.
19 |
Whomever I love I rebuke and correct. Therefore, get moving and change.
20 |
Look, I am standing at the threshold and calling. If someone heeds my voice and opens the door, I will enter in to him and will dine with him and he with me.
21 |
To whomever overcomes I will grant to sit with me on my throne as I also overcame and sat down with my father on his throne.
22 |
Let him who understands heed what the Spirit says to the churches. |
